When I first heard about this project, I didn’t think it could become a reality. I recall my days in Madinah, sitting with my colleague and him telling me about his dream. I was fascinated by it. To be a part of establishing a community has opened up new possibilities. I would like to see Andalucía help the greater community, and to be a good source of dawah, and facilitate various projects, especially for the youth of America.

As salaamu alaikum. My name is Imran Nanlawala. I want to talk to you about the amazing aspects of Andalucía. I was first introduced to Shariyf and the idea of establishing a community back in the summer of 2013. I boarded the plane without having ever visiting New Mexico. After a couple hours and a transit in Dallas, I arrived in Santa Fe, and was greeted by Shariyf and his family at the airport. We began a two-and-a-half-hour trek to his home. I was amazed by how hospitable him, and his entire family were, and how amazing the site location for this project was. It happened to be Ramadan, we were fasting, cooking our food over an open fire. We slept in tents, used composting toilets, and gazed upon the stars at night. This happened to be my most fruitful Ramadan ever. My mind was clear, my food was clean, my intentions were pure. What Shariyf and his family are doing is truly remarkable and I encourage all the Muslims to support him in these endeavors.
Through this land and community of Andalucia, Allah has given us freedom to practice Islam in authentic ways and appreciate so much. It is a blessing in this life that opens doors for our success in the aakhirah, alhamdulillah.

Assalaamu alaykum. Owning property here has truly been by the Grace of Allah and Him alone. SubhaanAllaah this is exactly what our family needed and we didn't even know it when we were buying it. At the time of the purchase we didn't see its full potential being that it's off-grid and away from any major city (we thought having electricity and being near an urban area were of importance). Little did we know, these were just a few of the things that ended up being of utmost of importance for us, being self-sufficient and living closer to the land, living a slow and meaningful and rewarding life. I love having my own sliver of peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Being here, you're constantly reminded of Allah's Majesty everywhere you look, and in turn, helps remind you of your purpose on this earth. Our tiny community is comprised of families that are there for each other under the guidance of my lovely friend Mai and her wonderful family, may Allah preserve them all, Ameen. I pray that Allah continue to put barakah , peace, and guidance amongst all members of our little community, Ameen!

Living in a rural Islamic community has allowed me to see my children grow up. Andalucía has enabled us to seek out and find likeminded Muslims to experience true brotherhood and enjoy a lifestyle that is conducive to Islam. This is the beginning of something great!

When I visited my Brother Shariyf and his family I was blown away. My first visit was in 2016, it was an amazing trip. I had to come back again in 2017 because the experience was unbelievable. I was extremely fascinated by how everything was well organized for both visits. Before my visits we spoke about sustainable living, permaculture, and building a Muslim community. I was astonished when I arrived. What we had talked about over the phone was an understatement, everything was systematically done. Milking the cows, feeding the chickens, and other animals. Everything was very impressive; everyone had a responsibility, and the environment was full of happiness. The hospitality was top notch, and presentation was beautiful. I definitely will recommend everyone to travel and see for themselves. People who have visited and experienced what I have all have thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Now others have moved there because of what is offered for families and how a Muslim community can be established. Knowledge precedes actions and you will see that at Andalucía.

Having an intentional community is very important. I am really happy to be a part of a community that does not hesitate to help one another. From settling in to daily living I felt/feel very supported. There are many things that could make the community better but the foundation of loving for your brother/sister what you love for yourself is ever present. May Allah continue to bless our community.
